BACKGROUND

The Calgary Adult Morning Hockey League (CAMHL) has been in operation for over 32 years with almost all games at Flames Community Arenas.  We have grown from 6 teams in the 90’s to almost 24 teams today, and is one of the most sought after leagues to play in.  The name of the league was formerly named the Alberta Insurance Hockey League,  but we re-branded in 2012 to open the league to a wider hockey audience.  This isn't your usual beer hockey league as we prefer coffee with games starting at 7am.

The CAMHL promotes a vision of non-contact, professional, competitive, yet clean ice hockey.  Many of our players and teams have built friendly rivalries, yet are able to chat over a cold beer at our year end hockey tournament while raising funds for Kidsport Calgary.  We call ourselves CAMHL'ers as we are all passionate about morning hockey.  We strive to build a strong camaraderie amongst hockey teams promoting a respectful network of professionals. 

We run a winter season (22-24  teams), an evening spring tournament (24 teams), and a summer season (6-8 teams).  Our tournament gives our teams an opportunity to share some cold beverages, laughs and hockey talk.  We also use the hockey tournament as an opportunity to raise funds for Kidsport Calgary with raffles and a silent auction.  The CAMHL has raised over $50,000 over the last 13 years to help ensure Kids remain in community sports.

    

GAME FORMAT & SEASONS

Our hockey games are unique in that we play 7am-8am weekdays.  So many hockey players love this time as it allows players to start their day with exercise, no more late nights, long drives and short sleeps compared to night hockey.  We are also priced at a significant discount vs. night hockey with winter season fees at $7,500 for at least 35 games (including year end tournament).

Our game format is as follows: 

• 60 Minute running time from 7am-8am
• 2 Officials and 1 Timekeeper
• Music is played from 6:55am-7:05 am for puckdrop to get teams energized.  Music played in between whistles.
• Penalties are 3 minutes
• No slap shots and no icing calls. 
• It is exciting, well paced hockey with 4 divisions (A-D) that provide a range of skill for many Calgary hockey enthusiasts. 

Winter Season: September to March
Team Fees: $7,500 per team
Player Fees: Approximately $450

Western Canadian CAMHL Hockey Tournament (Evening/Weekend Games): First week-end in April
Team Fees: $1,750
Player Fees: Approximately $125

Summer Season: May - August 
Team Fees: $4,250
Player Fees: Approximately $285
