For many of us, the Holidays come with so much excitement stemming from children’s anticipation of Santa’s visits with a sleigh full of presents, everyone preparing and tasting delicious foods; Turkey, gravies, roasted potatoes, chocolates, wines, rum and egg nog, all the while enjoying the amazing togetherness of family and friends throughout the Holiday Season.
For some families, however, although there may be family and friends close by, presents and good cheer do not come as we may realize. CAMHL wanted to help make a big difference this Christmas for a family with children and help enhance the true spirit of the Holidays.
So, in partnership with KidSport Alberta, The Calgary Adult Morning Hockey League sponsored a family to bring plenty of good cheer and joy to last throughout the holiday season and well into the New Year.
The Family was Mother, Janina, and her 3 year old son, Timofey, and 6 year old Daughter, Ronielle. The family moved to Canada 6 years ago from Russia and love Canada for its friendly and inviting people. Ronielle loves anything Pink and Barbie but most of all gymnastics and even has a small gymnastics set in her living room. Timofey likes cars and trucks but most of all loves soccer and wants to play as soon as the snow melts.
Trevor Gingrich (CAMHL President) and Patrick Sutherland (CAMHL General Manager) on behalf of the CAMHL sourced the gifts as wished for by the family and delivered them to Janina, Ronielle, and Timofey on Saturday morning, December 21, 2013.
- For Ronielle, Santa delivered a brand new Barbie RV Bus, 2 Barbie Dolls, a Barbie and Ken Touring Jeep, and a Barbie Hair Dressing Set.
- For Timofey, Santa surprised him with a brand new Umbro Soccer Ball, a new steel soccer net, a remote controlled car, and an Indy Race Car Track Set.
- Finally, Janina received a much deserved Spa Package at Diva Salon and a 25 pound Turkey donated by Calgary CO-OP.
Janina, Ronielle, and Timofey expressed to CAMHLthat this was the best Christmas they have ever had.
